We don’t just do it for a living here at Southways; these are some of our own cars!
ROB: An extremely tatty Chimaera 400 we purchased back in 2012, probably because no one else wanted to!
- 1997
- 4.0 V8
- 100,000 miles (at least)
- Outriggers made from gas pipe
- No service history
- Previous Cat C write-off
- Officially named ‘Rob’ after poll on our Facebook page to find a name for the new project car.
- Will be rather special when restored!
ULTIMA GTR: A car from Steve’s garage, rather than our own workshop, the Ultima was completed by Steve – in his own garage – 5 years before Southways even existed! It showcases Steve’s attention to detail with these cars and should shortly be back on the road, sporting our own livery.
- 2004
- 6.7 V8
- Small-block Chevy engine/6-speed Porsche gearbox
- Very wide tyres
- Very light
- Very fast!
TVR S: A car from Richard’s garage this time, the TVR S is a car we’re using as a stand-in demonstrator for our chassis work (as ‘Rob’ is some way off completion!) A very late S1 model, fitted with the 2.8i ‘Cologne’ engine but with some S2 spec parts, it probably qualifies as an ‘S1.5’, if such a thing exists!
- 1989
- 2.8 V6
- 67,000 miles
- Cosworth limited-slip differential
- Griffith 500 spec front brake setup
- Rear disc brake conversion
- Piper BP270 camshaft
- Gaz Gold Pros on each corner
- Powerflex poly-bushed throughout
- ACT stainless headers
- Fully refurbished chassis, with two-pack polyurethane top coat and thermal-zinc spray protection.
- Fully re-piped, re-hosed and re-plumbed
