We are now offering pre-IVA inspections on all kit cars. If you have built a car and the next stage is the IVA test, but are concerned that there are areas it may fail on, then we can help! For a fixed price of £175*, we will inspect your build using VOSA’s own guidelines and advise you of any issues you may encounter during your test. Call us on 01329 220755 for more details.
* n.b – The cost of this service has recently increased by £10 to £175.
A turn up for the books – we normally use the spares from these cars, but this 1984 Ford Sierra XR4i is in with us in it’s own right! With the current owner possessing the car for no less than 26 years and counting, the term “sentimental value” was coined for this job!
This Sierra uses the Ford 2.8 MFI “Cologne” V6 engine. But what do you do if you own a Tiger SuperCat with the later 2.9 EFI “Cologne” V6 engine fitted, and your engine is too big for your bonnet? You get us to make you a custom bonnet of course! This, plus more TVR updates, the Moss Monaco moving forward and of course, the XR4i recomissioning are all available on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SouthwaysAutomotive.
With one major TVR Chimaera overall in process (and over halfway there now) we thought the best thing we could do is bring you ANOTHER TVR Chimaera body-off blog! Only this one makes for slightly more depressing reading….
A seemingly excellent condition 400 model, this car possesses all the required attributes you look for when taking the plunge on one of the best value two-seat British sports cars money can buy. It’s a rare colour, the interior is mint, it has good history, the engine runs like a sewing machine, the mileage is low, it’s got a fibreglass chassis……….urm?!
That’s right. The innocent TVR has been the victim of some “bodge it ‘n scarper” tomfoolery. Watch it progress as we right so many wrongs!
We’re delighted to announce that the first rolling-road open day to be held at our Hampshire workshop was a great success. Congrats to Carl Gibbs who walked away with the greatest corrected flywheel output @ 324bhp in his Monaro CV8. Best noise award went to Jack Clayton’s TVR Chimaera 450 (we’re still refitting the roof tiles now) and biggest surprise of the day was the little white Toyota Starlet of Jon Lee @ 180bhp.
LS1-powered Monaro CV8 hitting the drums
We’ve uploaded some pictures to our Facebook page (here: www.facebook.com/SouthwaysAutomotive) with more to come.
Thanks to all who attended and heres to the next one!
